Lunar New Year, or Tet, is not only a time for family reunions but also an opportunity to reconnect with Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage. At Viet Au Primary School (VAUIS), the 2026 Spring Festival promises VAUIS-ers a colorful journey into Vietnamese Tet traditions, where they can take part in familiar festive activities and experience the spirit of spring firsthand.

What Makes the Viet Au Spring Festival 2026 Special?
February 4 – Red Envelope Design Competition
Kicking off the series of activities is the Red Envelope Design Competition, where VAUIS-ers can unleash their creativity through ideas and patterns inspired by the festive colors of Tet. This activity encourages students to develop their imagination, refine their artistic sense, and express New Year wishes through their own handmade creations.
February 6 – Banh Chung Wrapping and Five-Fruit Tray Competition
Green *banh chung* (traditional Vietnamese sticky rice cakes) and five-fruit trays are familiar symbols of Vietnamese Lunar New Year celebrations. Through the *banh chung* wrapping activity and the five-fruit tray presentation competition, students have the opportunity to explore the meaning behind Tet traditions while developing dexterity, cooperation, and teamwork skills.
February 9 – Lunch Buffet, Traditional Banh Chung, and Spring Festival
The festive atmosphere continues with a lunch buffet, traditional *banh chung*, and an exciting Spring Festival program. VAUIS-ers will enjoy musical performances and traditional folk games, discovering the beauty of Vietnamese cultural heritage in a lively and welcoming environment.
This is also a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with their teachers and friends while creating memorable moments in the days leading up to Tet.
February 10 – Movie Time and Multilingual New Year Greetings
The series of activities concludes with a movie session combined with a multilingual New Year greeting exchange. Alongside a relaxing movie experience, students will have the opportunity to practice their language skills, build confidence, and explore different ways of sharing New Year wishes in various languages.
This activity connects the beauty of traditional Tet celebrations with a multilingual learning environment, helping students broaden their cultural understanding and enjoy using foreign languages in familiar, everyday situations.
Exploring Traditional Culture Through Hands-On Experiences
The Viet Au Spring Festival 2026 brings more than just festive excitement before the Lunar New Year. It also offers students opportunities to explore Vietnamese cultural heritage through hands-on activities.
From designing red envelopes and learning about *banh chung* and five-fruit trays to enjoying folk games, musical performances, and multilingual communication, every experience helps develop creativity, teamwork, communication skills, and appreciation for traditional values.
At Viet Au Primary School, learning extends beyond the classroom and grows through experiences connected to everyday life. These activities give students more opportunities to develop holistically in knowledge, skills, and their appreciation of Vietnamese culture.
Celebrate a Memorable Spring with VAUIS-ers
Every activity at the Viet Au Spring Festival 2026 is another piece of a joyful and meaningful Tet celebration. The school hopes these experiences will help VAUIS-ers gain a deeper understanding of traditional Tet customs, cherish Vietnam’s cultural heritage, and confidently share the joy of spring in their own unique ways.
Parents, stay tuned and follow the journey of the Viet Au Spring Festival 2026 to discover the heartwarming moments and exciting experiences of our VAUIS-ers!
